Dr. Yang Yu

Dr. Yang Yu is a board-certified dermatologist. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various skin, hair, and nail disorders. Her specific research interests include acne, the skin microbiome, and the utility of probiotics in dermatology.

 

Dr. Yu completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at UCLA, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She received her medical degree from the University of California Irvine, during which time she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, considered widely to be the highest award bestowed in medical school. She then returned to UCLA to conduct research on different novel therapies for acne, resulting in one patent, as well as numerous research papers and book chapters. Dr. Yu completed her internship at the Olive View – UCLA Medical Center in internal medicine. She then went on to complete her dermatology residency at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, serving as Chief resident during her senior year. During her time in Cincinnati, she was awarded the Mutasim Humanitarian award, which is given in recognition of humanistic attitudes of compassion, respect and ethical behavior in the delivery of care to patients and their families.

 

Following residency, Dr. Yu practiced as a full-time Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UCLA. She now holds the title of Chief of Dermatology at Olive View – UCLA Medical Center, where she also serves as the UCLA Dermatology Residency Site Director and UCLA Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship Site Director.

 

When she is not working, Dr. Yu enjoys quality time with her husband and two children, drinking tea, and reading.
